Gilgit-Baltistan bans wood use in government buildings: Here's why!

GILGIT: The government of Gilgit-Baltistan has imposed a complete ban on the use of wood in government offices and residences with immediate effect.

According to a circular issued by the General Administration Department, the decision was taken after notice was taken of the increasing use of wood paneling in government buildings.

According to officials, the aim of this move is to reduce unnecessary expenses and ensure environmental protection, while discouraging the felling of trees is also an important part of this decision.

The circular has directed all administrative secretaries and heads of departments to ensure strict implementation of these orders.
Furthermore, the Planning and Development Department has also been directed not to approve any future project that involves the use of wood.
