Government approves major change In passport system

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to make a major change in the passport system to facilitate citizens.

To save citizens from having to visit offices repeatedly, it has been announced to introduce a doorstep passport delivery service, under which the prepared passport will be delivered directly to the applicant’s home.

According to the details, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of DG Immigration and Passport Muhammad Ali Randhawa, in which a detailed review of various projects of Immigration and Passport, especially the progress of the digital app, was conducted.

The meeting considered several suggestions regarding providing modern and convenient facilities to the citizens.

During the meeting, it was decided that the doorstep passport delivery service will be formally launched to make the passport issuance process more convenient and effective.

This initiative will provide significant convenience to citizens across the country, especially the elderly, women, and people living in remote areas.

According to sources, new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have also been finalized to ensure safe and timely delivery of passports.

Officials say that after the launch of the service, applicants will not need to visit offices to collect their passports.

The government is calling this move a part of its policy to make government services digital and people-friendly. It is expected that the launch of the new service will make the process of obtaining passports faster, more transparent, and easier, benefiting millions of citizens.
