ISLAMABAD: The federal government has accelerated practical steps to strengthen small and medium enterprises.
The government has submitted a three-year roadmap to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in this regard. The Prime Minister has directed that the process of providing loans to business people on easy terms should be further accelerated.
An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the business plan of SMEDA. A detailed action plan for the development of the SME sector for the next three years was presented in the meeting.
The Prime Minister appreciated the performance of Haroon Akhtar and the SMEDA board for preparing a feasible and realistic plan.
The Prime Minister said that small and medium enterprises are the foundation of the country’s economy. This sector creates employment opportunities and has great potential to increase exports. He said that if this sector is facilitated, the economy can stabilize.
The Prime Minister clarified that the government will remove obstacles to provide easy loans to business people. For this purpose, instructions have been issued to the relevant institutions to take immediate and effective steps.
During the briefing, it was informed that various training workshops have been organized in six major cities of the country to increase the capacity of SMEs. The aim of these programs is to provide modern skills to business people.
The meeting also highlighted the participation of women in business activities. Officials said that special steps are being taken to give women an active role in the SME sector so that they can contribute fully to economic development.
