ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to give 4 days of holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. According to the report, there will be official holidays on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday on the occasion of Eid.
Regarding the month of Ramadan, Anjum Nazir, Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department, said that this year Ramadan is likely to have 30 days of fasting and the first Shawwal i.e. Eid-ul-Fitr may possibly fall on March 21, Saturday. However, the final announcement will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
According to Anjum Nazir, a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held in Islamabad on March 19, but it is impossible to see the moon on that date. On March 19, the birth of the moon will be at 6:23 am according to Pakistani time, and the age of the moon will be only 12 hours and a few minutes by sunset. Even to see the moon through a telescope, it is necessary to be at least 14 hours old, so it is not possible to see it with the naked eye.
The Deputy Director added that this year, the 30 days of Ramadan are likely to be completed, and the first Shawwal, i.e. Eid, is expected on March 21. However, the formal announcement and confirmation of the moon sighting will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
