Govt implements 4-day work week, salary cut for senior officials

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued a notification of 4 working days a week.

The Cabinet Division says that offices will be open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and offices will be closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Grade 20 or those earning more than three hundred thousand have been instructed to voluntarily deduct two days of salary. According to the Cabinet Division, the salary cut will not apply to the health and education sectors.

It should be noted that a review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the implementation of government measures on austerity and energy conservation, and according to the issued statement, the meeting decided to make Friday an additional weekly holiday.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had said that the government is making every effort to keep the economy stable despite the global situation. A special committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on the measures announced by the government, which will review the measures on a daily basis and submit a report.

Shahbaz Sharif had directed that a third-party audit of the austerity measures be conducted so that the impact of the measures can be assessed.

The Prime Minister had directed the federal ministries and divisions to implement the measures vigorously. Shahbaz Sharif had said that the ministries and departments should provide the Cabinet Division with pictures of the vehicles closed under austerity measures. Each ministry will send its report to the Prime Minister’s Office to make work from home effective.
