Govt introduces facial recognition for pension verification

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb says that a new digital verification system through ‘facial recognition’ has now been introduced for pensioners, which will save them from having to visit banks.

According to details, Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, while speaking in the National Assembly session, said that the government has significantly increased the salaries and pensions of government employees and reduced the tax burden on existing taxpayers.

While giving details regarding the budget, the Finance Minister announced a revolutionary initiative for senior pensioners and said that a new digital verification system through ‘facial recognition’ has now been introduced for pensioners, after which senior pensioners will be able to complete their verification sitting at home instead of visiting banks.

He said that comprehensive steps have been taken to expand the tax net, and the main goal of the government is to eliminate arbitrary powers through the use of digitalization and artificial intelligence.

Talking about economic indicators, Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the country’s economic indicators have improved significantly over the past year, and the current account is now in surplus.

He said that overseas Pakistanis have sent $4.25 billion in foreign exchange to Pakistan, while Pakistani freelancers have also received a record remittance of $1.6 billion in a year.

The Finance Minister said that the government’s main goal is ‘export-led growth’ and the country has earned $14 billion in revenue in a period of two years.

The Prime Minister announced a significant reduction in the prices of petroleum products yesterday, and the people have fully supported the government in the country’s journey of economic patience and stability.

Describing agriculture as the backbone of the country’s economy, Muhammad Aurangzeb announced important incentives for farmers and said that the government is further expanding cooperation with China in the agricultural sector, and in this regard, 885 Pakistani students have received modern training in the agricultural sector from China so far.

The Finance Minister said that in order to develop the agricultural sector in the country on modern lines, duties on the import of modern machinery have been completely abolished.
