Govt restores previous speed limits on motorways and national highways

ISLAMABAD: In an important development for motorists, the government has restored the previous speed limits on motorways and national highways with immediate effect.

According to the Motorway Police, the speed limit for cars and light vehicles on motorways has been reinstated at 120 kilometres per hour, while passenger buses and heavy transport vehicles will be allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 110 kilometres per hour.

The authorities have also restored the previous speed limits for cars, light vehicles, passenger vehicles, and heavy transport vehicles on national highways.

Officials said the decision has been implemented immediately, allowing motorists to travel under the earlier speed regulations.

A spokesperson for the Motorway Police said that ensuring public convenience while maintaining road safety remains the department’s top priority. Citizens have been urged to strictly follow speed limits and traffic regulations, use seat belts, and drive responsibly to ensure safe travel on highways and motorways.

The restoration of the previous speed limits is expected to facilitate smoother movement of traffic while maintaining safety standards on the country’s road network.
