ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited applications from Gilgit-Baltistan students who plan to pursue undergraduate studies (4/5-year BS programs) in public sector universities or degree-granting institutions recognized by HEC.
This scholarship is available for the academic year 2024-25 in all disciplines under “Top Pakistani Universities/Institutions (Batch-IV) for Students of Gilgit-Baltistan”.
Eligibility Criteria for HEC scholarships 2024
- Applicants must hold a domicile/local certificate of Gilgit-Baltistan.
- Applicants must have completed their Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or an equivalent qualification.
- Those already benefiting from any other scholarship are ineligible.
- The maximum age limit is 22 years as of the application submission deadline.
- Candidates must meet both HEC and University admission criteria for BS programs.
Scholarship Coverage:
- Tuition fees, hostel fees, and other charges up to Rs. 240,000 per year.
- A monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000.
- Book and travel allowances totaling Rs. 30,000 per annum.
Important Notes:
- Candidates will be shortlisted based on their score in Aptitude Test conducted by Education Testing Council (ETC), HEC, and their educational credentials.
- To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must score at least 50% on the test. The result will remain valid for one year after its announcement.
- Students already enrolled in a BS program at public sector universities or institutions, before the advertisement (for a maximum of one academic year), are also eligible.
- Scholarships will be awarded on a merit basis, without discrimination based on gender, caste, race, or religion.
- Applications are open for any public sector university or institution in Pakistan.
- HEC reserves the right to cancel or postpone the scholarship process without prior notice.

Here’s How to Apply:
- Applications must be submitted online via HEC’s portal.
- Only complete applications will be considered; students should click on “Submit” after completing their applications.
- Applicants should retain their application ID and payment receipt for reference.
- A non-refundable fee of Rs. 500 must be deposited through the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) online facility. The bank details are provided in the advertisement.
- Application forms must include a scanned copy of the paid fee challan.
