Helmet made mandatory for pillion riders in federal capital

Helmet prices increase in Hyderabad

ISLAMABAD: In a move for safer rides in the federal capital, wearing helmets has been made mandatory for both motorcyclists and pillion passengers.

“The decision will be implemented after a two-week awareness campaign, after which a fine will be imposed on both riders and pillion passengers for not wearing helmets,” said Islamabad Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Zeeshan Haider on Thursday.

This step will increase the survival rate by 50 % and will be applied to both genders equally, the official added.

CTO Syed Zeeshan Haider added that this decision will be implemented after a 2-week awareness campaign.

He said that after the 2-week awareness campaign, there will be a fine for both riders on a motorcycle not wearing helmets.
