Balochistan govt announces Ashura holidays

RAWALPINDI: The Islamabad High Court has officially announced the annual 15-day winter vacation from December 24, 2025 to January 8, 2026.

A notification issued by Registrar Muhammad Yar Walana and approved by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfaraz Dogar, the judiciary is gearing up for the year-end vacation.

The announcement follows the similar winter vacation schedule of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which will remain closed from December 18 to December 31, 2025, reopening on January 1, 2026. Notably, during the Supreme Court vacation, its offices will continue to function, and urgent cases as well as other scheduled hearings will continue as scheduled.

The winter vacation is an important part of the judiciary’s annual routine, designed to give judges and court staff a well-deserved break during the cold season, ensuring that they return refreshed for the new year’s cases.

Legal circles are already debating how the break will affect pending and urgent hearings, making this 15-day break one of the most talked-about events on the country’s judicial calendar.
