ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared the degree of Justice Tariq Jahangiri fake and has ordered him to be removed from his position immediately.
According to the details, the Islamabad High Court has declared Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri ineligible for the post of judge. The court has ordered the Law Ministry to immediately de-notify Tariq Jahangiri.
The court, while pronouncing the verdict, said that Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri was not qualified to become a lawyer at the time of his appointment; therefore, his appointment as a judge was not legally correct. This verdict was pronounced after an investigation into the alleged degree case and examination of documents.
After this order of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri’s position as a judge came to an end, and the Law Ministry was directed to immediately implement this verdict.
Legal circles say that this verdict will help further strengthen transparency and standards of appointment in the judiciary. After this verdict, more caution is expected in the process of appointment of judges in the judiciary so that any legal loopholes can be avoided in the future.
