KARACHI: Authorities have decided to deport Sarabjit Kaur, an Indian Sikh woman who attracted media attention after marrying a Pakistani man during a visit on a pilgrimage visa to see Nankana Sahib.
She has been taken to the Wagah border for deportation. Her lawyer, Ali Changaizi Sindhu, informed the court that she was indeed staying in Pakistan illegally as her visa had expired in November 2025.
The LHC has asked the authorities for a report on her status. This follows a petition filed by former Member of the Provincial Assembly Muhindar Paul Singh through Mr. Sindhu.
The Indian national came to Pakistan along with a group of Sikh pilgrims on November 4 to attend the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. She, however, stayed in the country beyond its expiration on November 13.
She married a Muslim, Nasir Hussain of the Sheikhupura district, during her stay in Pakistan and converted to Islam. She adopted the name of Nore Fatima.
She first got in touch with this Pakistani man, Nasir Hussain, now her husband, over social media in 2016.
