ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s visit to Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek has been called off on Sunday, sources said.
Earlier, on the instructions of PM Shehbaz Sharif, the Deputy Prime Minister, and federal minister Amir Muqam were scheduled to depart for Bishkek today at 11 am to monitor the situation and provide assistance to Pakistani students affected by mob violence, leaving at least five injured.
Sources said that the ministry has decided to send additional staff from the missions in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to Pakistan’s embassy in Kyrgyzstan to assist the small diplomatic staff.
Yesterday, the first flight carrying 180 Pakistanis including 140 students landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi along with senior officials received them at Allama Iqbal International Airport. More students are expected to arrive with more flights scheduled for Sunday (today).
“The government is planning to send a plane from Islamabad to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and back to Islamabad this evening,” the federal govt said in a statement.
