Islamabad introduces new rules for restaurants

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Food Authority has issued new regulations for restaurants and food outlets aimed at enhancing hygiene standards and food safety in the federal capital.

According to the revised SOPs, the chefs and waiters have to wear caps, while all food handlers will have to wear safety caps while on duty. This regulation ensures that hygiene practices are followed and there is no contamination.

Officials added that any restaurant or food point found violating these rules would be sealed forthwith. The authority said the mandatory use of caps is part of a broader effort to promote cleanliness and public health in food establishments.

The Food Authority has also appealed to citizens to report outlets where the staff members are not putting on caps in order to enforce the new standards.

The Director of the Food Authority has directed the field teams to conduct inspections and surprise visits across different areas to monitor compliance. He indicated that inspection teams will take strict action against violators and called on citizens to support the efforts by identifying restaurants and food points that do not comply.
