ISLAMABAD: A new security protocol has been launched in the trails of Margalla Hills under which foot, motorcycle, and mounted patrolling will ensure the safety of the visitors.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated at the Margalla Trails Patrol Unit’s inaugural ceremony on Thursday that the group was established to keep trail people safe. The foot, motorcycle, and mounted patrolling unit has 60 officials.

Ten officials make up the foot patrolling teams, and they are outfitted with protective clothing and supplies.

According to him, the mounted patrolling squad consists of eight horses, while the motorcycle patrolling unit consists of sixteen officials and six motorcycles.

The minister also inspected the motorcycles and cavalry units and said the purpose of setting up the unit was to provide a safe environment to the citizens visiting the trails

Mr. Naqvi continued, “These patrolling officers will also rescue citizens who are lost or who need assistance.” He expressed the expectation that more foreign and local visitors would use the six trails now that they are secure.

In addition, the minister gave instructions on how to address the issue of weak cell phone reception on the trails and recommended that the installation of a mobile tower be reexamined.

The minister was informed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Nasir Rivi regarding the enhanced security protocols.
