ISLAMABAD: Bringing respite from the rising temperature, residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi woke up to a dramatic change in weather as a sudden thunderstorm accompanied by hail struck the city in the early hours of the morning.
The capital city saw a rain-wind/thunderstorm of moderate to high intensity begin about 7:30 am, with isolated hailstorms, and continue intermittently.
After the rain, the daytime high fell to two or three degrees Celsius.
The precipitation was caused by a persistent westerly wave that was affecting the country’s higher regions, as previously reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
On May 10 (evening/night) and May 11, rain-dust storms/thunderstorms are predicted in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Barkhan, Kalat, Khuzdar, Qilla Saifullah, Kohlu, and Mastung. During this time, dust storms and thunderstorms are also anticipated in Kharan, Chagi, and Panjgur.
In isolated areas of north Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are predicted.
