KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi has imposed a complete one-month ban on wimming, bathing, diving and wading in the sea/beaches and coastal lines within the territorial limits of Karachi Division.
The notification has been issued in this regard under Section 144 and the ban was imposed given the alarming threats of rising tidal waves on Saturday.
The ban was imposed beacuse of the large and dangerous waves developing near Karachi’s shores, which may endanger the lives of swimmers in the sea.
According to the notifcation, “the sea at the beaches of Karachi becomes hazardous due to high tides and turbulent waves, posing a potential significant risks to swimmers and bathers.”

Furthermore, the notification mentioned that a drowning incident was also reported on June 20 in the Arabian Sea at Karachi’s Hawks Bay beach.
As per notification, the concerned authorites will be empowered to initiate legal proceedings against those found violating the ban under section 144 CrPC to avoid any untoward event of drowning and to save precious lives of the general public.
