Cargo trucks set on fire in Karachi’s Landhi, Korangi

KARACHI: At least three cargo trucks were set on fire in Karachi’s Landhi and Korangi areas on Tuesday, police said.

Unknown miscreants ablaze one truck in Korangi Number 6 and two others in Landi and managed to escape.

According to police, the torched heavy vehicles were en route from Quaidabad Dawood Chowrangi to Korangi Crossing.

A fire brigade vehicle arrived at the location to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties from the arson incident.

Police confirmed that the truck set on fire in Landhi was carrying sugar bags, while the truck that was burnt in Awami Colony, Korangi had a cargo of cement sheets.

DIG East Usman Ghani took serious notice of the incident and ordered a search operation to arrest the culprits.

He added, “No one will be allowed to disrupt law and order in the city and strict measures would be taken against those responsible for the arson.”

The incident comes against the backdrop of increased fatalities involving dumper trucks.

Last week, the Sindh government decided to ban the entry of heavy vehicles into the city during the daytime.
