Multan gas tanker explosion

MULTAN: At least six people have initially lost their lives while 31 were injured after a gas-filled tanker exploded on Monday at the Industrial Estate in Multan’s Hamid Pur Kanora area.

The explosion in the LPG tanker triggered a massive fire and caused extensive damage to nearby vehicles, shops, residential buildings, and houses.

Rescue 1122 officials said that the fire was extinguished after hours of effort, involving over ten firefighting vehicles and foam-based fire suppression.

The Rescue teams in coordination with authorities have suspended the electricity supply from the affected feeder and the gas supply to the area as a precautionary measure to minimise the damage.

As per officials, the deceased also included a minor girl and two women.

The police reported that at least 20 houses surrounding the explosion site were completely reduced to rubble, while 70 were partially damaged.

The district authorities have declared an emergency at Nishtar Hospital, where the injured are receiving treatment. Among the injured, 13 are reported to be in critical condition.

Search operations are ongoing in the adjacent localities to ensure safety.

Meanwhile, locals have been advised to stay away from the site of the blast as the gas from the exploded tanker is still present in the air.
