PESHAWAR: In a groundbreaking move, Peshwar has completed its first dedicated jogging and cycling track, which is located in Hayatabad.
This development is part of Phase II of the Peshawar Uplift Programme. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will inaugurate the six-kilometer-long track later this month as it has been developed along Hayatabad Khwar.
My commissioner, Riaz Mahsud, who is responsible for the project, visited the area and walked the track with engineers working on the final arrangements.
The track has modern features and is 20 feet wide with greenbelts on both sides that are 5 feet each, which have trees and decorative plants to help with air quality and aesthetic appeal.
There is a rest point that has open-air gym equipment as well as public restrooms, tuck shops, and other essentials at every kilometer. Commissioner Mahsud mentioned that 2 of the remaining portions of the track are over 70% complete and quickly coming together.
He was clear that it is the provincial government‘s goal to improve health for the public, the use of eco-friendly urban spaces, and provide citizens with more recreation options. The Hayatabad track is a significant progression towards promoting healthy lifestyles in Peshawar‘s urban environments.
