KPT partners with Karachi Shipyard to build, deliver two mooring boats

KARACHI: In a groundbreaking move, Karachi Port Trust (KPT)and Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW)  have signed an agreement under which the latter would build and deliver two mooring boats.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of KPT Chairman, Rear Admiral Habib-ur-Rehman, and KS&EW Managing Director Rear Admiral Salman Ilyas.

The Signing ceremony was attended by KPT Standard Bearer Admiral Habib-ur-Rehman, and thus, this remarkable signing marks a true commitment of such an organization to augment Pakistan’s maritime capacity for environmental understanding and operations benefits.

Some of the boats’ crucial operations include accommodating berthing and unberthing, preventing collisions, and assisting various port activities.

The venture falls under KPT’s broader strategy of modernizing port operations under the auspices of Karachi’s strategic importance to the maritime industry and the growth potential.

Karachi Shipyard has an impeccable record in shipbuilding, building vessels such as bulk carriers and tankers.

KPT was also associated with some of the other reliable international entities, such as AD Ports Group, for developing terminals and upgrading associated infrastructure. These projects comprise turning Karachi into a contender for trade and logistics facilitation in South Asia, thereby further entrenching its maritime status in the region.
