Lahore DC rejects PTI’s Feb 8 request over security concerns

Minister urges PTI to focus on improving governance in KP

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) could not get permission to hold a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8.

As per the details, the Deputy Commissioner Lahore rejected PTI’s request for a rally at Minar Pakistan.

DC Lahore says that the decision not to grant permission for the rally was taken to maintain law and order.

He says that there are important events like cricket matches, international speakers conference, horse and cattle show in Lahore on February 8, due to which thousands of personnel have already been deployed for security.

According to the notification, permission cannot be given to PTI due to the incidents of May 9.

Earlier, the Lahore High Court had ordered PTI to decide on the request for permission to hold a rally at Minar Pakistan Ground on February 8 in accordance with the law.

The court had directed the Deputy Commissioner Lahore to decide on the request by 5 pm today.

Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition of PTI Punjab Chief Organizer Aaliya Hamza.
