Lahore may get 4-day holiday for Basant

Will there be any public holidays in June 2026?

LAHORE: A proposal to give an additional holiday in the first week of February is under consideration, after which citizens are likely to get 4 four-day holidays.

According to details, citizens of the provincial capital Lahore are likely to get a long weekend on the occasion of Basant in the first week of February.

Sources said that four-day holidays are being considered in the city, February 5 is already an official holiday due to Kashmir Day, while Saturday and Sunday are regular holidays.

In addition, a proposal to give an additional holiday on Friday is also under consideration, after the approval of which citizens will be able to enjoy a 4-day holiday.

The administration says that the aim of the additional holiday is to make Basant celebrations safe and enjoyable, while the holidays are also expected to reduce traffic pressure and unnecessary movement of motorcyclists in the city.

It should be noted that Basant celebrations in Lahore have been announced to be held on February 6, 7 and 8, which will provide more convenience to citizens in celebrating the festival.
