Lahore roof collapse leaves 14 children dead, several others injured

LAHORE: At least 14 children lost their lives, and several others were injured after the roof of a tuition center in a residential house in the Kahna area of ​​Lahore suddenly collapsed.

According to initial reports, the number of affected children could be up to 35, while rescue teams have so far rescued 18 children from the rubble.

According to media reports, a tuition center was being run in a house in a rural area where about 35 children came to study every day.

The accident occurred when the roof made of TR girders suddenly collapsed, and the children under it were buried.

As soon as the incident was reported, the local people immediately informed the police and relief agencies, after which rescue teams reached the spot.

Locals are also participating in the rescue operations. Several children were immediately rescued from the rubble, while the search and rescue process for others is underway.

According to aid agencies, many of the children who were pulled out of the rubble were having difficulty breathing, on which aid workers immediately tried to restore their breathing by clearing the dirt from their mouths and noses and later shifted them to the hospital for treatment.

Rescue Operation Underway

Rescue officials say that the condition of many of the injured children is critical, while some of the children did not even have a pulse, due to which there is a fear of loss of life.

According to media reports, there was a large amount of dirt on the roof of the house, and after the roof collapsed, the children were buried under the dirt, which is also causing difficulties in the rescue operations.

Rescue officials say that the operation is still ongoing and the final number of affected children has not yet been determined.

CM Maryam Takes Notice

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken notice of the roof collapse accident at a tuition center in Kahna and directed that relief operations be expedited.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed that relief operations be expedited immediately; responsible agencies and provincial ministers should reach the accident site and supervise the relief operations.
