LHC to hear case against petroleum price hike on Jan 14

Petroleum Minister links fuel price hike to levy and IMF conditions

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has fixed January 14 for hearing the case against the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products.

The case has been added to the cause list by the Registrar’s Office and will be heard by Justice Khalid Ishaq.

In this case, the Judicial Activism Panel and other parties have challenged the increase in the prices of petroleum products.

The court has given time to the federal government, OGRA and other relevant institutions to submit their responses so that complete information can be presented before the court.

During the hearing, the court will see whether the increase in the prices of petroleum products is appropriate and legal for the public or whether there is a possibility of any illegal action in it. According to experts, this decision may also affect the economic difficulties of common consumers and price trends in the market.

The hearing against the increase in the prices of petroleum products is important for both the public and industries, as it directly affects daily needs and transport costs.
