Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz Satti to be appointed FPSC Chairman

ISLAMABAD: According to the sources, Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti is to be appointed as the new chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), a federal agency responsible for recruiting civil servants and bureaucrats.

The appointment decision was approved by President Asif Ali Zardari on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Lt Gen Satti, a three-star army officer, and recipient of the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) Award, is currently commanding the Multan Corps and will assume the role after his retirement in November.

The position of FPSC chairman had been vacant for a year, hindering the functioning of the Central Selection Board.

With his appointment, the FPSC is expected to regain momentum in its mission to oversee recruitment and public service examinations across Pakistan.

Lt Gen Satti will bring a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and vice-chief of General Staff at GHQ (Frontier Force).
