LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has faced criticism for sharing a two-year-old photo of a portable washroom, which she claimed to have provided at flood relief camps in Chiniot.
In a post shared on X and Facebook, she shared a photo with the caption, “Innovated portable washrooms constructed and placed at relief camps in Chiniot.”

However, netizens started trolling the CM on social media after they quickly pointed out that the photo she shared has a time and date stamp, which shows that it was clicked on September 3, 2023.
Furthermore, the pictures of the portable washroom also turned out to be listed on OLX, an online marketplace app.
On Twitterati wrote, “Madam Chief Minister is in hyper self-PR overdrive, sharing pictures of innovative portable washrooms from 2023.”
Another advised the chief minister to seriously consider sacking her PR & media team.

However, the provincial information minister shared another post on X, with photos and videos, geotagged with the location of flood relief camps set up in the Sherabad area of Chiniot district.
“Shameless propaganda cell has been spreading false propaganda since yesterday against the bathroom built in the Chiniot relief camp, geotagged pictures and videos are available,” the minister captioned.

CM Maryam also previously shared photos of portable washrooms that were indeed set up at flood-affected sites in Vehari.
