Massive fire broke out in Lahore's New Azam cloth market, rescue operation underway

LAHORE: A massive fire broke out on the fourth floor of a cloth warehouse at MZ Plaza in Lahore’s bustling New Azam Cloth Market near Sheranwala Gate, as firefighters tried to rein in the inferno to prevent its spread to other adjacent buildings.

Rescue 1122 teams raced to the site immediately after the fire was reported, launching a major firefighting operation.

According to rescue officials, seven fire tenders, two rescue vans, two specialized rescue vehicles, one ambulance, two rescue motor bikes, and 45 rescue personnel were pressed into service to put out the blaze.

Operation is being supervised by District Emergency Officer Dr Rizwan Chaudhry, who is personally overseeing efforts to control the fire and prevent it from engulfing other portions of the building.

Rescue Operation Underway

Rescue officials say firefighting efforts are still in full swing as they work to put out the flames and prevent further damage. No casualties have so far been reported, with the cause of the fire unknown.
