WASHINGTON: Famous American actor Paul Avery, who played Huey in the American soap opera All My Children, and his wife Sheila Avery died in a fire in their house.
Authorities say that at about 12:38 local time, a fire was reported from a residence in Blairstown, New Jersey, upon which rescue and fire brigade teams immediately arrived at the scene.
Rescue workers found the couple unconscious inside the house and immediately pulled them out of the burning building and provided first aid, but they succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities say that the fire was brought under control at 1:03 a.m., and an investigation is underway to find out the causes of the incident.
81-year-old Paul Avery served in the acting field for almost two decades and gained considerable fame on television.
He was not only an actor but also a journalist and co-founder of the Ridgeview Echo in New Jersey. He also served as a member of the Blairstown Township Committee.
Speaking to the media, the actor’s two daughters, Kyle Avery and Parker Sanchez, said that the death of their parents was a huge shock to the family. Kyle Avery said that this is the biggest loss of our lives.
