Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting begins for Dhul-Hajj moon sighting

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has been called to sight the moon of Dhul-Hijjah.

A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is currently being conducted on Sunday, May 17, corresponding to 29th Dhul-Qa’dah. The date of Eid al-Adha will also be decided after the sighting of the moon.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs said that the meeting has been called at the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Karachi. Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, will preside over the meeting.

Meetings of the Zonal and District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also be held at their respective headquarters that evening. The final announcement of the sighting of the moon will be made by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

On the other hand, Suparco has predicted that the moon of Dhul-Hijjah is likely to be sighted on May 17, thus Eid-ul-Adha is strongly expected to be on May 27.
