Metro bus service temporarily suspended in Islamabad

Metro bus Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The metro bus service in Islamabad has been partially suspended until Monday due to security concerns related to the Youm-e-Ali processions and Pakistan Day ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

As per the directives of the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner, the service has been restricted to operate only between Saddar in Rawalpindi and Faiz Ahmed Faiz metro station.

The operations remain completely suspended between Faiz Ahmed Faiz station and the Pak Secretariat in Islamabad. However, a limited service from Saddar to Faiz Ahmed Faiz stations has been restored after the Youm-e-Ali processions.

To ensure security, a special traffic plan has been implemented, prohibiting the entry of heavy vehicles into Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to the National Highway and Motorway Police, a complete ban on heavy vehicles, including trucks, passenger vans, and transport vehicles, will be in place from noon on March 22 till 3:00 pm on March 23.

Heavy vehicles will be stopped at designated points, including Taxila, Burhan Interchange, Chakri Interchange, and Mandra toll plaza. The police have advised owners and drivers of large vehicles to avoid traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad during the specified time and ensure their stay at a safe location to avoid any inconvenience.
