Naran road closed for 4 days as steel bridge installed in MAhandri, Kaghan Valley

MANSEHRA: The local administration has suspended tourist from travelling to Gilgit-Baltistan through the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad (MNJ) Road in order to Install a mega steel bridge in the Mahandri area of Kaghan valley.

District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur while talking to journalists in Kaghan “As the central bridge in Mahandri, which was swept away in last year’s flash floods, is being replaced with a new structure, the MNJ Road will remain closed for all traffic from June 15 to June 18.”

DPO Gandapur said that the new bridge, which is 33 feet wide, will help bear the growing number of visitors during the summer and enable continuous movement between Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The local administartion including Deputy Commissioner Khaliq Iqbal visited the site and check the security arrangements in the valley for the safety of the local and foreign tourists.

“This bridge, which was destroyed in last year’s flash floods, had suspended inter-provincial traffic for weeks. The new installation is crucial for safe and efficient travel,” the DPO said.

He said that the MNJ Road segment between Mahandri and Babusar Top, a vital route to Gilgit-Baltistan, would be totally closed during the building process, even though Shogran would still be accessible.

According to Gandapur, additional personnel were sent to the valley as a result of increased security measures ordered by Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Mehmood and Deputy Inspector General of Police Hazara Range Nasir Mehmood Satti.
