NDMA predicts 2-3 more monsoon spells THIS Year

ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, the NDMA chairman Lieutenant General Inaam Haider Malik said that the current monsoon season is likely to continue till September.

Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Inaam Haider Malik said in a media briefing that the monsoon season will continue till September.

The NDMA chief said that climate change has severely affected Pakistan. He said that the monsoon has been more than 60 percent intense in the current season. He said that “two to three more rains will affect the country till September, with the focus on northern Punjab, Azad Kashmir, lower Gilgit-Baltistan region and northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

He said that clouds are covering Islamabad today. He said that the lower Sindh regions may also be affected by cloudbursts.

The NDMA chief said that there have been reports of loss of life and property in Buner, Bajaur and Batigram. He said that a comprehensive survey of the flood-affected areas will be conducted after the Prime Minister’s instructions. “Relief operations are ongoing in the affected districts of Gilgit-Baltistan and KP.”
