OMAN: The Pakistani embassy in Oman has announced a change in passport collection hours along with new fees.
According to officials, this new schedule will be implemented from May 1, 2026, the main objective of which is to make consular services more effective and control the increasing rush at the embassy.
The announcement issued by the embassy has stated that now citizens will be able to collect their prepared passports at two different times from Sunday to Thursday, the first time is from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm while the second time is from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Officials have clarified that it will be mandatory to bring the original token and old passport while collecting the passport, otherwise the documents will not be provided.
Along with this, details of the fees for different categories of passports have also been released. The normal fee for a 36-page passport with a five-year validity period is 12 Omani Rials, while the urgent fee is 19 Omani Rials.
Similarly, the fee for a 36-page passport with a ten-year validity period will start at 17 Omani Rials, which may increase depending on the nature of the application.
According to the announcement, fines will be imposed in case of loss of passport, the fee will be doubled for the first loss, and quadrupled for the second loss.
For example, if a citizen wants to obtain a 100-page urgent passport for the second time, the fee can reach 208 Omani Rials.
The authorities have finally instructed citizens to adhere to the specified times so as to avoid any unnecessary hassle and further improve the provision of services.
