Punjab Assembly Standing Committee approves Kite Flying Ordinance 2025
LAHORE: On the first day of the Basant festival, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) dispatched more than 20000 sanitary workers to maintain cleanliness throughout the city during the three-day Basant festival.
The initiative aims to maintain hygiene across Lahore while safeguarding its historic and cultural sites. Babar Sahib Din, DG Punjab Authority and Managing Director of LWMC, said, “Our social mobiliser teams are distributing safety and sanitation pamphlets among citizens, stressing responsible celebrations and proper waste disposal.
The special cleanliness operation, which started today (Friday), includes more than 2500 loader rickshaws and other machinery. The Walled City heritage sites required extensive washing work, which LWMC completed before Basant to protect the city’s historical sites.
The operation requires all officers and sanitation workers, drivers, and support staff to remain at their posts for duty.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation teams and follow proper waste disposal practices during the festival. The citywide drive is expected to keep Lahore clean and ensure safe celebrations throughout the Basant festival.
