Over nine passengers dead in Thatta, Khairpur accidents

JAAC's attack leaves 4 security personnel martyred, over 20 injured

THATTA/ KHAIRPUR: At least nine individuals died and over 60 were injured in two different road accidents reported on Sunday in Sindh, according to rescue and police personnel.

In the first accident, a passenger bus turned over near Thatta Bypass, leaving six dead and 20 others injured. Rescue teams reached the site immediately and transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The bodies were later brought to Karachi in ambulances, with the dead being shifted to a cold storage in Orangi Town.

In another incident on the National Highway at Gambat in Khairpur district, a passenger coach going out of control at full speed overturned, killing three and injuring over 40.

Women and children were among the victims of injuries, who were all shifted to Gambat Hospital for treatment. At least 15 victims’ condition is still critical, confirmed police.

Earlier, 26 lives were lost in a tragic crash, when a wedding guest passenger bus skidded off the Thalichi Bridge and fell into the river while traveling from Astore, GB, to Chakwal.

According to details, there were 27 persons on board the coaster, with only the bride, Malaika, surviving.

The bride was injured and taken to the hospital, and there is ongoing rescue activity with local residents, rescue teams, and police actively working on the rescue efforts.

Deputy Commissioner Astore, Muhammad Tariq, confirmed that the corpses of 14 victims were recovered and shifted to the Astore District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. “The vehicle which met the accident was also pulled out from the river,” he further added.
