Pakistan expels Indian diplomat over espionage allegations

Pakistan condemns attacks on Saudi Arabia, expresses solidarity

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has declared an Indian High Commission official persona non grata and ordered him to leave Pakistan within 24 hours.

According to a Foreign Office spokesperson, the Indian official was found to be involved in activities contrary to his diplomatic status. The Indian official concerned has been directed to leave Pakistan within 24 hours.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that the Foreign Office summoned the Indian Charge d’Affaires and informed him of the decision.

It should be noted that earlier, the Indian government had declared an official of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi persona non grata and ordered him to leave India within 24 hours.

According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the Pakistani Charge d’Affaires has been demarched in this regard.

On the other hand, Indian media has claimed that two people have been arrested in Indian Punjab on charges of allegedly spying for Pakistan.

According to Indian media, both the people are accused of spying for an official of the Pakistani High Commission. One of the accused is accused of leaking information about the movement of Indian troops.

Indian media reported that a woman was among the two people arrested on espionage charges.
