Pakistan Navy launches Operation Mohafiz Al Bahr due to regional threats: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Navy has launched Operation Mohafiz Al Bahr due to regional threats, Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) stated.

According to the ISPR, in view of the changing regional maritime security situation and possible disruption in key shipping lanes, the Pakistan Navy has launched Operation Mohafiz Al Bahr to address the multifaceted threats facing national shipping and maritime trade.

The ISPR said that this initiative aims to ensure the uninterrupted flow of national energy supplies and the security of Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs).

According to the ISPR, the escort operations of the Pakistan Navy are being carried out in close coordination and coordination with the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC). The Pakistan Navy is fully aware of the current maritime situation and is constantly monitoring the movements of commercial vessels to ensure their safe and peaceful passage.

The ISPR said that since about 90 percent of Pakistan’s trade is carried out through sea, the main objective of this operation is to keep the vital sea lanes safe and secure. Pakistan Navy ships are currently providing security to two merchant ships, one of which is expected to arrive in Karachi today.

The ISPR said that the Pakistan Navy is fully prepared to deal with emerging maritime security challenges and is committed to ensuring the safety of national shipping and regional maritime security.
