ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani nation is observing the 77th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, with a renewed commitment to follow his guiding principles of unity, faith and discipline.
The day began with prayers in all mosques for the repose of the departed soul and for the security, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who led the struggle to unite the Muslims and separate homeland under the All India Muslim League, passed away on September 11, 1948, barely a year after the country’s independence.
On the occasion, Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television are airing special programs highlighting the vision of the Quaid, political struggle and contribution to the creation of Pakistan.
In their messages on the occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tribute to Jinnah’s strategic abilities and sacrifices.
President Zardari said that Jinnah not only created a homeland for Muslims but also gave them dignity and a distinct identity. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif further said that the nation salutes the political foresight of the Quaid, who made the construction of Pakistan possible despite serious challenges.
Both leaders urged citizens to take inspiration from Jinnah’s ideals of justice, equality, democracy and tolerance in shaping the country’s future.
