Pakistan team wins bronze in 56th International Chemistry Olympiad

RIYADH: The Pakistan team earned a bronze medal at the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 21 to 30.

Abdul Rafay from Karachi Grammar School was awarded the bronze medal. The team also featured Mahnoor Rashid from Lahore Grammar School, Wah Cantt, Marva from Punjab College for Women, Faisalabad, and Syed Mehir Ali Shah from Dubai International Public School and College, Mansehra.

The team received training at the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, under the supervision of Prof. M. Khalid Khan and Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah, the National Chemistry Talent Contest (NCTC) coordinator and a senior professor, respectively.

Moreover, during a meeting at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. M. Raza Shah and Prof. Dr. Khalid M. Khan extended their congratulations to the students.

They also acknowledged the support of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, which facilitated the students’ participation in international chemistry competitions.

Prof. Dr. Farzana Shaheen, Head of ICCBS University Karachi, chaired the meeting and commended the students for their accomplishments.
