ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of its citizens.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said during his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Friday that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies are conducting targeted operations in border areas to neutralize terrorist threats, especially from groups like Fitna-ul-Khawarij. He stressed that these operations are based on reliable intelligence and have been carried out with precision.
The spokesperson stressed that Pakistan respects Afghanistan’s sovereignty and is committed to dialogue and cooperation to address the common challenge of terrorism. He urged Afghan authorities to ensure that their soil is not used as a launch pad for attacks against Pakistan, adding that terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan are a serious concern that needs urgent attention.
On India releasing flood water into Pakistan, Shafqat Ali Khan said that while some information was shared, it was not as detailed as in the past and the channel established by the Indus Water Commissioner was not used. He reiterated that India should fully abide by the Indus Waters Treaty.
Commenting on Palestine, the spokesperson strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, which killed at least 21 people, including four journalists and an aid worker. He called it a grave violation of international humanitarian law, human rights and freedom of the press.
