Pakistani hacker group launches “Operation Salar” against India

Former Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial’s whatsApp hacked

ISLAMABAD: In a daring cyber counterattack, a Pakistani hacker group has targeted Indias cyberspace on the pretext of “Operation Salar”.

The group claims to have responded to Indian cyberattacks, the anti-Pakistan campaign, and oppression in Kashmir. Sources state that the hackers, describing themselves as a volunteer group, announced a coordinated cyber operation to directly target Indias digital infrastructure.

In the first phase of their operation, the hackers hacked four Indian websites, downloaded data, and updated the homepage with the Pakistani national flag.

In a statement released online, the group said:

“This is a direct response to India’s cyber hostility and their continued cruelty in Kashmir. Pakistan is a peace-loving nation, but if our sovereignty or dignity is challenged, we won’t remain silent. Operation Salar is a warning, not the end.”

Many on social media are stating the event marks the beginning of a cyber war. #OperationSalar quickly began trending on social media, with some users calling it a “cyber knockout” for India.

Many users praised the hackers for acting in the name of patriotism, while others simply requested the campaign be expanded to include Indian media, banks, and military systems.
