GILGIT: The Medical Superintendent of PHQ Teaching Hospital Gilgit has issued a show cause notice to Senior Consultant Cardiology Dr. Muhammad Ijaz Ayub for alleged absence from duty and violation of government orders.
According to the issued letter, the doctor remained absent from duty without prior notice or approval, despite instructions from the hospital administration and the head of the concerned department to return to duty immediately; this was allegedly not implemented.
According to the administration, this situation affected the care of patients, mandatory cardiology clearance before operations, and the provision of medical facilities to heart patients. The letter has termed this act as professional negligence, unauthorized absence, and violation of hospital discipline.
Dr. Muhammad Ijaz Ayub has been directed to submit a written explanation within 24 hours; departmental action has been indicated as per the rules and regulations.
