ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged a temporary halt in hostilities in the Middle East, emphasizing that ongoing diplomatic efforts are gaining momentum and could soon yield meaningful results.
In a statement shared on social media, the premier said that negotiations aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict are progressing “steadily, strongly and powerfully,” with the potential to produce substantive outcomes in the near future.
To facilitate these efforts, Prime Minister Sharif appealed to Donald Trump to extend the current deadline by two weeks, allowing diplomacy more time to succeed.
PM also called on Iran to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz for the same period as a goodwill gesture, stressing the importance of cooperation in easing regional tensions.
Furthermore, the prime minister urged all parties involved in the conflict to observe a complete ceasefire for two weeks, stating that such a pause is essential to enable diplomatic channels to achieve a lasting resolution.
PM Sharif underscored that these measures are critical for ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to constructive engagement and conflict resolution.
