GILGIT: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is likely to be elected Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan unopposed.
According to sources, the PPP has had backdoor contacts with political parties in Gilgit-Baltistan, through which it has convinced them not to field a candidate for the Chief Minister.
Sources say that Amjad Hussain Advocate will be the PPP’s candidate for the Chief Minister. The PPP will announce the name of the Chief Minister after the swearing-in of the GB Assembly.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly session has been called for 4 pm tomorrow, but its holding is likely to be delayed.
According to sources, the names of the Chief Minister and Speaker of Gilgit-Baltistan will be announced on June 22, with the decisions to be made by Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto.
Earlier, PPP sources said that the PPP leadership has given the green signal for the formation of a coalition government in GB, and sources had claimed that the Stability Pakistan Party will be part of the Gilgit-Baltistan government.
