PTI founder’s sisters question medical report, demand hospital shift

ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, on Monday said her brother had asked his sisters to raise their voices for him, expressing concern over his health and access to family members.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside her sisters Uzma Khan and Noreen Khan, Aleema Khan said she had been informed by Bushra Bibi’s daughter and sister-in-law that Imran Khan’s eyesight was not fine. She questioned why authorities were reluctant to allow family members to meet him if his treatment had been successful.

“If the government believes his treatment is satisfactory, then they should permit us to see him,” she said, urging that he be shifted to Shifa International Hospital, where, according to her, doctors could examine him independently.

Aleema Khan also called on the public to speak up regarding the former prime minister’s condition. Responding to a question about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, she said she was not concerned about anyone’s remarks.

Uzma Khan, speaking on the occasion, said the family did not trust the medical report issued after Imran Khan’s check-up and demanded that a doctor of their choosing be allowed to examine him. She questioned how an eye problem could be resolved with a single injection and termed the report “unconvincing”.

Noreen Khan criticised authorities for shifting Imran Khan to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) without informing the family and reiterated the demand for his transfer to Shifa International Hospital.

The sisters alleged that they feared for Imran Khan’s health and safety and said they would continue to raise the issue if their concerns were not addressed.
