PTI suffers setback as Iftikhar Tayyab quits party, joins IPP

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) suffered a major political setback as prominent leader Iftikhar Tayyab has bid farewell to the party.

PTI Vice President Iftikhar Tayyab left the party in Mirpur division and joined the Istehkam-e- Pakistan Party (IPP).

Iftikhar Tayyab’s joining the IPP was announced at a ceremony. IPP chief Abdul Aleem Khan and Azad Kashmir President Sardar Tanveer Ilyas welcomed him and donned a party muffler.

IPP Secretary General Nisar Ansar Abdali was also present at the ceremony. Interestingly, just a day earlier, the local PTI leadership had sent recommendations to issue a party ticket to Iftikhar Tayyab. However, the very next day, he announced his departure from the party.

According to political observers, Iftikhar Tayyab’s joining the IPP is likely to make the election contest in LA-5 Barnala constituency more fierce and interesting.

Bilal Butt parts ways with PML-N AJK Lahore Division, joins IPP

General Secretary of the Muslim League (N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir Lahore Division, Bilal Butt, has announced his separation from the party.

The former General Secretary of PMLN has now joined the Pakistan Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).

According to media reports, the reason for the decision is said to be the non-availability of a party ticket for the LA-34 constituency of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Bilal Butt had applied for a ticket from the constituency.

He had earlier been elected Vice Chairman on an N League ticket from Union Council 90 and has been playing an active role in organizational matters.

According to reports, he did not attend an important party meeting regarding the Azad Kashmir elections yesterday.

Some participants criticized his supporters for his absence, while some called Bilal Butt self-serving. However, no position has been taken by Bilal Butt yet.
