PTI's Aliya Hamza released from jail following LHC order

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aliya Hamza Malik has been released from Gujranwala Central Jail on the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The Lahore High Court intervened to prevent Hamza from being transferred from District Jail Gujranwala to another facility.

Justice Ali Baqir Najafi issued the written order while hearing a petition filed by Alia Hamza’s husband Hamza Jamil. The court ordered that the government and the attorney’s office submit detailed comments and reports on the upcoming hearing.

Hamza Jamil alleged that unjustified political cases are being registered against his wife. They claimed that every time Aliya Hamza Malik got bail in one case, she was immediately nominated in another case, a pattern of political persecution.

In response to the plea, the court ordered to provide details of all the cases registered against Alia Hamza and granted her anticipatory bail to ensure that she is not unjustly imprisoned.

On Tuesday, the Lahore High Court stopped Aliya Hamza from being transferred from District Jail Gujranwala to another city. Justice Ali Baqir Najafi’s written order emphasized the need for transparency and transparency in the legal proceedings against the PTI leader.

The court’s decision is seen as an important step to address concerns of political victimization and ensure due process. The Punjab Government and Attorney’s Office have been directed to submit detailed comments and a comprehensive report on the upcoming hearing.

Aliya Hamza’s release marks a temporary relief amid ongoing legal battles, with the next court hearing scheduled to further examine the allegations and provide clarification on the cases filed against her.
