LAHORE: The Punjab Traffic Police is starting a new motorcycle permit system for teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18. DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir shared the details, noting that the police will begin issuing these permits this week.
The goal is to better manage young riders and improve overall road safety. Under this new system, permit holders are restricted to riding motorcycles or scooters with engines up to 125cc.
There is an annual fee of 500 rupees, and applicants must provide either a Smart National Identity Card or a B-Form. They also need to submit written consent from their parents and pass both a road sign test and a driving test.
The police will review the results of these tests before granting the permit. Authorities intend to monitor these young riders once they are on the road.
If someone commits a serious traffic violation or repeatedly breaks the rules, their permit will be cancelled. This measure is intended to encourage more disciplined and safer driving habits.
The police introduced the permit to make riding legal for teenagers and to help them gain experience while following the law.
