Punjab governor awards Arshad Nadeem

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider awarded Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem with a cheque of Rs2 million and a car to honor his achievement in the recently held Paris Summer Olympics 2024.

A special ceremony was organized at the Governor House by Governor Sardar Saleem to honor Arshad Nadeem on winning Pakistan’s first individual Olympic gold medal.

On the occasion, the Punjab governor congratulated Nadeem and his family for bringing joy to the nation. Governor Saleeem hailed Arshad for securing a record-breaking victory in the Paris Olympics.

27-year-old Olympian expressed gratitude to the Punjab governor for acknowledging his success and hosting a ceremony.

“I am grateful to the Governor of Punjab who honored me, I got the gold medal in the Olympics with the prayers of my parents and the nation. I will get the award for the country in the future too,” he added.

Yesterday, COAS General Syed Asim Munir hosted a grand ceremony to honor Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem’s historic achievement at the Pakistan Army Auditorium in GHQ, Rawalpindi.

On August 8, Arshad Nadeem made the nation proud by securing the country’s first-ever medal in 32 years and a gold medal in 40 years. He also etched his name in history books with a javelin throw of 92.97m which broke the previous Olympic record of 90.57m set by Norwegian Andreas Thorkildsen in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
